Claude was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and Bay City Junior College and also attended University of Michigan. Claude worked in management at JCPenney for nine years, having managed most departments in the store. He served in the United States Army, National Guard, for six years. He worked in construction management for two years in the state of Florida and Indiana. Afterward, he started his own business in the paper and Janitorial supply field back in Saginaw, and continued that venture for 45 years, until 2019. Claude was responsible for designing, building, and managing three commercial buildings in Saginaw Township. He bought a cottage on Higgins Lake, doubled the size of it and also bought a new 22′ power boat, which was his first boat. He loved boating but sold it and the cottage after 6 years to concentrate on other projects. He is the past president of the Saginaw Township Business Association. He is also the past president of the Fordney Club of Saginaw County, which is a 95-year old club supporting children of the county. Claude served as chairman of the Ambassador Council of the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to serving the SBYC in any way he can.
