(2002) MINGLE
I have been tinkering around with boats since I was a Boy Scout on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. The love of boating stuck with me and I serve on the Boy Scout Committee that manages the Scout’s 52′ ketch Retriever – homeport Straits Harbor, Mackinaw City. In 2002, I upgraded to the Hunter 43 which my wife Karyn and I sail as much as possible. That year, Gunter Beholtz and John McMuray were my sponsors and I have been a SBYC dock holder ever since. I am a Past Commodore of the Quinsippi Yacht Club in Quincy, Illinois, where I lived full-time on a 70′ houseboat that I built. Winters in the marina were wonderful and the dock lights on the boat provided great flood-lighting for the ice-skating parties off the bow. I am employed by the Birch Run Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and previously by the Flint Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Through my employment, I have had the opportunity to travel the world consulting on tourism issues. I am delightful you have selected me to serve SBYC as a member of the Board of Directors and I look forward to doing what I can to continue to make this a great place for SBYC members.
